Ian’s Story

Ian’s first book, Quarton: The Bridge, was first published in 2019. The first in the sci-fi Quarton Trilogy, it sets the scene for a battle for control of the quartons, building blocks to a bridge which spans the planet Garial and Earth.
The remaining books in the series followed in 2020 and 2021 and have attracted young adult and adult readers from all over the world.
Ian has also published 3 books in the Maggie Matheson Collection – a spy comedy series about an octogenarian grandmother who is called back into the spy service to deal with cyber crime, something she knows nothing about.

His first book for Middle-grade children - Shoal - is due to be published in early 2024.

A former primary school teacher, Ian has combined his love of learning and writing to deliver talks in various schools around Essex and Suffolk, aimed at inspiring children to write.

He writes blogs – about anything and everything, usually with a light-hearted slant – and has often appeared on BBC Essex reading and discussing his work. Ian also submits 100 word stories for weekly broadcast on his local community radio station, Colne Radio. He maintains that the creative challenge of thinking of new ideas, combined with the ruthlessness of the edit, keeps him on his toes.

He is currently working on combining his love of sci-fi and comedy to produce something hilarious set in a multiverse – another challenge which will keep him on his toes.

He was born - and still lives - in Colchester, in the county of Essex, where he lives with his wife and no dogs, cats or hamsters. Threatening - but never succeeding - to take him away from his laptop is a list of DIY jobs which he does not have the skill, or desire, to complete.
